The first practice session (FP1) of the 2026 F1 Australian Grand Prix has concluded.Ferrari locked out the top two positions, with Charles Leclerc setting the fastest lap of 1:20.267 to finish first, and Lewis Hamilton 0.469 seconds behind in second.
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Hadjar took third and fourth.Positions 5–10 were Lindblad, Piastri, Russell, Antonelli, Bortoleto and Hülkenberg.
Several cars faced reliability issues.Defending champion Norris ended FP1 early for a precautionary gearbox check, while his teammate Piastri also suffered a temporary power loss.Albon of Williams stopped on track due to a fault mid-session.
Aston Martin’s power unit problems remain unresolved: Alonso did not take part in the session, and Stroll completed only a few laps before retiring early.
